Kung fu Panda 2 | Sky cinema teaser

Usually when you have to think to a brand new promo tv campaign it’s not easy to find a good idea in few hours, specially when the subject of the promo is a really well known movie as Kung Fu Panda 2 and dozens of trailers and promos about it are already have been made all over the world. Anyway, that time I have been lucky, first of all beacuse I didn’t have to think an entire promo campaign in a day but just a teaser and then beacuse almost immediately I’ve got an idea in my mind. How? Watching the movie in a fast forward mode! Basically, I found this visual connection between the color of the panda and the “Tao” symbol. Immediately I tried to figured out how to make a transition between them…

At that time I had just watched an extraordinary work made it by Buck, an L.A company leader in Motion Graphic and Visual Effects. So I said, I like this technic of merging shapes like moving brushes on the painting, it would be perfect trying to simulate a transformation between “Tao” to the panda’s head. So I designed the storyboard and once it has been approved I began to work on the animation…mask by mask, vertex by vertex and… here it is.
